The trail follows the so-called Red Mile — marked by a continuous red stripe on the tarmac along the former Furka-Oberalp railway route — tracing the gently flowing Rhône through a mix of rural and urban landscapes with panoramic views of the surrounding Alps. Passing through Naters, walkers encounter the World Nature Forum, a centre dedicated to nature conservation, before the path continues alongside the river to Lalden.

Klettersteig Aletsch
Gli scalatori attraversano la sponda occidentale del bacino idrico di Gibidum lungo pioli di ferro, ponti di tronchi e appigli naturali — e quando il lago è pieno, il percorso costeggia appena sopra l'acqua glaciale gelida. Il punto culminante è un ponte sospeso nepalese lungo 80 m e alto 40 m, dal quale si possono scorgere i segni di erosione lasciati dal possente ghiacciaio dell'Aletsch incisi nella roccia circostante.

The route links Bettmeralp and Riederalp along the paved Aletschpromenade, a gently graded path that is even lit at night, with rest benches placed along the way for pausing to take in the surroundings. Il sentiero scende attraverso la selvaggia Gola della Massa — un canyon scavato prima dal Grande Ghiacciaio dell'Aletsch e poi dalle sue acque di fusione — seguendo lo storico canale d'irrigazione Riederi, documentato per la prima volta nel 1385, che un tempo convogliava le acque di fusione glaciale verso i campi vicino a Ried-Mörel. Dai prati aperti oltre la gola, il percorso si apre su viste sulla Valle del Rodano.
