Boucle du Lac Vert

Lac de Pormenaz
Perched at 1,950 m in the crystalline Pormenaz massif, this lake sits beneath the Pointe Noire de Pormenaz on terrain shaped by glaciers some 10,000 years ago — rounded granite moutonnée rock alternating with hollows filled by peat bogs and small lakelets. The approach rewards with magnificent views of the Fiz mountain range, and the lake's island setting on the border of the Réserve Naturelle de Passy adds a sense of genuine alpine remoteness.

Straddling the Sixt-Passy and Aiguilles Rouges national nature reserves, this loop climbs from the heights of Servoz to the Lac de Pormenaz, threading through a massif of varied natural heritage above the Gorges de la Diosaz. The route is open from mid-May to mid-October, subject to snow and weather conditions.

The route's defining challenge is La Chorde — a passage equipped with ladders that hauls you up from a torrent to the wild, pristine Lac de Pormenaz, cradled within the Passy Nature Reserve beneath the Rochers des Fiz. The return leg threads through Les Argentières, with tricky passages, before dropping past the balconies of Lac Vert to the valley.

Partendo dalla cima della telecabina di Planpraz, questo percorso attraverso la Réserve Naturelle des Aiguilles Rouges sale attraverso sezioni ripide e nevai per raggiungere i Lacs Noirs a 2.540 m e il Lac Cornu a 2.276 m. Per tutto il tragitto, lo sguardo è attratto verso la valle di Chamonix-Mont-Blanc e i ghiacciai del massiccio del Mont-Blanc — dove il ritiro del ghiaccio è chiaramente visibile.
