Le sommet du Mont Granier
The route threads through a traversable cave — the Grotte aux ours — before breaking out onto the Granier plateau, where the calcaire cliffs of what was once called Mont Apremont frame a panorama stretching from the lac du Bourget and the Bauges to the distant Mont Blanc. Beneath your feet lies the fractured skeleton of the largest known rockfall in European history: on the night of 24–25 November 1248, a 900m-high, 800m-wide face collapsed, burying five parishes under 500 million cubic metres of debris.
