From the lakeside town of Gersau — shielded by the Hochfluh and Gersauerstock peaks and home to Switzerland's only still-active silk spinning mill, founded in 1892 — the trail climbs through forest and alpine pastures to Rigi Scheidegg at 1656 m, passing a rustic tavern at Gätterli along the way. The summit rewards hikers with a panoramic all-round view of the Alps and the Mittelland, alongside a chapel, barbecue areas, and a mountain inn.
