The Salzsteigweg (Wanderweg 109) is a long-distance route traversing Austria from north to south, passing over the mighty summit of the Wöllaner Nock (2.145 m) with its sweeping panorama across the whole of Carinthia. Near the Kaiserburg, the trail crosses the precise boundary point where three districts — Spittal/Drau, Villach Land, and Feldkirchen — meet.

A loop through one of Europe's largest stone pine forests, the trail links the Turracher See with the larch-fringed Grünsee and the Schwarzsee — a lake set within a high alpine moor. Sensory stations along the way invite walkers to listen to the forest, feel tree cones, and follow wooden arrows marked with a white "T" through the bog on a barefoot moorland path.
