A high-plateau circuit above the Rhône Valley, the route passes the small ornamental Breitmattusee and climbs to the viewpoint "Stand," where twelve four-thousander summits — among them the Bietschhorn, Weisshorn, and the Mischabel massif's Dom, Nadelhorn, and Täschhorn — crowd the horizon across the Bernese and Valaisian Alps.

Below, the Rhone valley spreads out in full view before the route reaches Raron.
