From the valley floor at Bad Mitterndorf, the route climbs through a mix of side streets, forestry tracks, and well-marked forest trails to reach the panoramic Tauplitzalm, with views opening across the Grimming, the Totes Gebirge, and the Steirersee. It is a transitional stage that moves through Tauplitz on its way upward, threading together asphalt, forest, and mountain terrain in a single ascent.
