A relatively flat path through soft Pohorje forest soil — layered with roots and pine needles — leads into the heart of Slovenia's largest high-altitude peat bog, where wooden footbridges thread between up to 20 small lakes adorned with white water lilies in summer. From the Lake tower, views open in all directions over a landscape where the endangered grouse hides among the pines.
