The trail descends from the Val Pesarina through forested zones, crossing bridges over the Torrente Pesarina and the Rio Liana, before opening onto views of the Alpi Carniche Centrali — including Monte Zoncolan, Tamai, and Arvenis — as it leaves the Dolomiti Pesarine behind. It links two typical villages of central Carnia, passing through low-mountain woodland and arriving in the basin of Ovaro.

Built in the 1930s by the Val Pesarina community under the vision of Regolo Corbellini, this trail cuts 4,000 metres through the Carnic Alps — 1,200 of them blasted directly into the rock — with hundreds of metres of fixed ropes traversing cliff faces at around 1,700 metres altitude. Its creators called it unique in the entire Alps, a hand-hewn link between the Sappada basin and Rifugio De Gasperi that predates any military purpose.
