BergeSeen Trail D5: Simonyhütte - Hallstatt
This stage descends along the historic Franz-Josefs-Reitsteig — a route used since the 19th century by the first mountaineers, including Friedrich Simony, the first scientific explorer of the Dachstein group — dropping from the Dachstein plateau through the deeply cut Echerntal on well-maintained but partly rocky paths into Hallstatt.
