Il Mittelweg è, insieme al Westweg e all'Ostweg, uno dei tre percorsi di lunga percorrenza nord-sud attraverso la Foresta Nera. Collega Pforzheim a Waldshut. Questo percorso di crinale di circa 230 chilometri fu tracciato nel 1903 e da allora è curato e gestito dallo Schwarzwaldverein. Il suo segnavia è un rombo rosso con una barra bianca su sfondo bianco.
