From Bad Ragaz — where thermal waters have flowed since 1840 — the route climbs through open mixed forest past the walkable ruins of Freudenberg castle, opening onto sweeping views across the Rhine valley and the Graubünden mountain world. The final ascent threads through the Valeistobel gorge, crossing seven bridges before reaching the hamlet of Garschlu.

Melser Geoweg
The Melser Geoweg is a teaching trail that winds through an exceptional landscape shaped by Ice Age glaciation, where rounded rock formations called Rundhöcker and an open-air exhibition of regionally significant stones — central to the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona — tell the story of the Earth's geology. The hill of Castels, rising between Mels and Flums, adds layers of human history: prehistoric fortifications, wartime artillery positions, and the traces of a once-thriving mining and quarrying industry.

Wildseeluggen-Baföni
Tre cascate — il Piltschinabachfall (81 m), il Sässbachfall (86 m) e il Muttenbachfall (45 m) — precipitano fianco a fianco nel bacino roccioso di Batöni, raggiungibile seguendo il Gufelbach attraverso boschi e pascoli. Il percorso attraversa il sito Patrimonio Naturale Mondiale dell'UNESCO Tektonikarena Sardona e passa accanto al Wildsee, il lago di montagna noto per la passeggiata dei cinque laghi del Pizol.

Il percorso sale da Weisstannen alla Sardona Hut attraverso l'Arena Tettonica Sardona, patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO, dove il sovrascorrimento del Glarona — una linea perfettamente diritta lungo la quale antiche rocce sono state spinte per più di 35 chilometri al di sopra di strati più giovani — può essere letto direttamente nel paesaggio. Il vento e millenni di erosione hanno scolpito il terreno circostante in superfici levigate dai ghiacciai, morene e ghiaioni che rimangono in gran parte intatti in questo poco noto territorio di confine dei cantoni di St. Gallen, Glarona e Grigioni.
