The route connects from Jagersimmerl along an approximately 6 km paved road to the Almtaler Haus before the hut approach begins.

Depuis le village de Grünau, l'itinéraire monte en passant par l'Irrer Alm et le Hochberghaus jusqu'au sommet du Kasberg, où s'ouvre un panorama dégagé sur les parois nord abruptes du Totes Gebirge. Près du sommet, une courte brèche exposée au-dessus de versants sud escarpés est sécurisée par des câbles en acier, avant que le sentier ne traverse une large crête de pins nains jusqu'à la croix sommitale.
