The Unternberg's summit is marked not by a cross but by a painted monument, and the surrounding high plateau opens onto a 360-degree panorama stretching from the Central Alps to the Chiemsee. Descending through fragrant alpine meadows grazed by dairy cattle, the route passes the rustic Raffner Alm before returning to the valley on a gravelled path.
