Sentier du Sel
The Sentier du Sel — the "white gold trail" — winds at the foot of the Vaud Alps through hamlets, forests, meadows, and vineyards, tracing the history of salt extraction. About 30 minutes from the trailhead at Plambuit, the village of Salins marks where the first salty spring was discovered in the 15th century, and the route follows the original larch-wood brine pipeline that once carried that water down the valley.
