The Via Engiadina traverses the sunny side of the Engadin in three day stages from Zernez to Ramosch, passing through authentic mountain villages adorned with sgraffito-decorated houses — among them Guarda, Ardez, Sent, and Vnà. Along the way, old ruins and panoramic views of the Engadin mountain world unfold, with food and local specialities available at villages, alpine huts, and mountain restaurants en route.

The trail climbs from Alp Zeznina Dadaint (1960 m) — the alpine starting point above Lavin — up through the Macun lake plateau, an enclave of the Swiss National Park where 23 mountain lakes are spread across the high terrain. From the Spi da Baselgia, the full sweep of all 23 Macun lakes opens up against the surrounding mountain backdrop before the path descends to Lavin.
