The Ru de By traces an ancient irrigation channel through high alpine terrain where sheer rock faces, glaciers, and abandoned stone barns line the route, with the Grand Combin looming over the scene. For roughly a quarter of its length, the water still runs in its natural bed, and the path bursts with extraordinary wildflowers before reaching the intake works at 2200 m.
